The Conclusion.

Hello sweet readers,

This post has been on our hearts for quite a while now, and it is finally time to put into words and publish. We have decided that as much as we love blogging and all of the fun that it entails; it is time for us to stop posting on the fun little blog. There are so many reasons why we are moving on from this adventure, but we will give a small explanation.

1. The main part of blogging and social media in general is to talk about yourself. What you are wearing, eating, doing, buying, loving, and all the other things that blogs talk about. The fact of the matter is, we want to live a life, living for God, others, and ourselves third. The blog culture, is quite frankly self absorbed and narcissistic  We aren't saying that all blogs are, but personally the time that we spend thinking about the blog solely revolves around what we think of ourselves, and what others think of us, when that is not what life is about. The less narcissistic you are the more faith you have in God.

2. It has been so much fun when shopping to think, "I cannot wait to share this on the blog!" but the fact of the matter is, in the long run it does not matter what J.Crew skirt you bought, or the shoes that you must simply buy. Rather, it is the relationships and memories you make. Those are the things that are going to last. In general, all social media can be very distracting from real life interactions, relationships, and moments.

3. We simply don't have the time anymore. It has been true for a while that we just don't have time to make blogging a priority right now. C's father always says, "You make time for things that are important to you."
Quite frankly even when we do have extra time from school, bible study, tennis, horse back riding, working out, studying, SAT prep class, tutoring , and socializing; we would rather spend what little extra time we have on pinterest, reading other blogs, reading books, watching t.v. or playing with our fluffy corgis. I guess you could say we just don't have the passion anymore that makes all the time put in worth it.

4. Life is not on your computer. It is with REAL people. We need to live our lives in the moment, and enjoy our highschool years not stuck behind a computer seeking approval from people we don't even know! We really do think y'all are all precious and will continue to read your blogs, but we also need to move on from the cyber friendships and invest more into the real ones.

Please know that this year in the blogging world was such a great & special one, and we would love for all of y'all to keep in touch with us through our instagrams, twitters, and pinterests.

We really appreciate all of y'alls encouragement and sweet comments we have received since blogging, and look forward to what God is going to be doing in our lives aside from the blog!

xoxo.

These are a few of my favorite things.

                                                                           Hey y'all,
No matter where you live, I think January can be a rather depressing month to most. The sun hides behind the clouds most days, while your pasty white arms and legs are hiding behind layers of clothing.

January is also pretty miserable because quite frankly, there is not much to look forward to. Spring Break feels very far away, and summer is a million years from now.

Since I have January Blues, I thought I would share some things that never fail to lift me up, and brighten even the gloomiest day.

Fresh Flowers
My dad has a very green thumb, and grows many beautiful different flowers in our yard. Varying from magnolias and roses, to the unique bird of paradise. He is so thoughtful and puts in small vases in my room pretty fresh flowers. This always brightens my day and room!

Macarons
Although, I fell in love with the delicious macaron when we were in Paris three years ago, this love affair has continued since we have the best bakery on our "Park Avenue" called Le Macaron. I seriously cannot tell y'all how many times when I was in 8th grade (the worst year ever) after school my mom and I would retreat to this amazing shop and treat ourselves to these delightful sweets.

Lazy Days
Even though I am not the procrastinator type and I like to get all of my work and jobs done first. I crave for days when I have nothing on the agenda and I can snuggle in bed drinking orange juice and coffee, while catching up on blogs, social networks, books, and sleep.

Corgis
I have never seen a corgi that I have not fallen instantly in love with. From their sassy smiles to their fluffy butts, I love it all. If you don't love corgis, I have to wonder whether you have a soul.

Shopping
Call me materialistic, but there is something so wonderful about a successful day of shopping. It's the excitement of where you are going to wear your fabulous finds, and the satisfaction of finding the perfect pieces.

Getting Dolled Up
I just love doing my hair and make-up. However, most school mornings I love sleep more, but I always jump at the chance to put in the hot rollers and apply some eyeliner and glitter on the eyelids when there is a special occasion. There is something so pleasing about getting dolled up, and taking time to look fabulous.

What are some of y'alls favorite things?
xoxo.

Study Space

Hey y'all,

One of the things that I would like to complete in January is making one dedicated work space, for my schoolwork. I have a "study" I guess you could say, it has a coach, my desk, another table, and some bookshelves.

Before my sister went off to college and we shared work space, I would clean up all of my study materials, markers, books, and papers every night so that I wouldn't drive her crazy with my messiness. However, since the space is all my own now, I have not been very organized and to kick off my second semester on a good and efficient note, I think it is about time I made my study perfect for my needs and wants.

Here is some pinspiration of studies that look very efficient, but also charming.
1.

2.

3.

I have no expectation that my work space will look remotely as perfect as these do, but there are a few specific things I like in each one, that I think I can incorporate in mine.

In space #1 I love the comfy yet functional chair. The chair that I have right now, is not very comfortable and since I spend about 4-5 hours doing homework, studying, etc. work at my desk a day. I think it would be great to have something more comfy!

In space #2 I like how there is a cup of writing utensils on the desk along with other supplies. Not everything has to be stored. It is easier to have some functional things displayed.

In space #3 I like how it shows the couch area. In my study area, I have a couch and I use it a lot when I have tons of AP Euro reading to do and I want to make it more bearable by snuggling up in a blanket.

What do you use for your study space?
Do you have any recommendations?
xoxo.

Happpy 2013!

Happy New Year!

I have a few New Years Aspirations that I am hoping I can make habits in 2013.

1. This year I am going to try to be more accepting towards people.
2. I am going to try to listen to others, and try not to give my opinion as much.
3. I want to read at least one "leisure" book every month. I do a lot of reading for school, but I want to take time to read something that I want to read.
4. I want to put my phone down more, and take time to "smell the roses".
5. I want to dig deeper into God's word this year, and grow in His truth and wisdom.

What are y'alls New Year Aspirations?

Christmas and Charleston

Hey y'all,

I hope that all y'all had great Christmases. I had a wonderful time with family, and the day after Christmas we headed up to Charleston, SC for a couple days of shopping and touring around the festive city. Now we are settled in Hilton Head Island for New Years, and I am coveting this time to relax, watch movies, read books, and sleep in late!

OOTD: Cozy at the Movies

Sweater-Gap
Boots: Ralph by Ralph Lauren "Savion"
Earrings: Kate Spade "All Wrapped Up" (similar)
Necklace: Moon & Lola (via. the Primrose Shop
Sunglasses: Ray Ban "Clubmaster"
The greatest part about living in Florida is that we don't really have but 2 seasons: hot and slightly less hot :). However, every month or so during the winter we get great bursts of 40-50 degree weather! These make for great boot and sweater weather (two of my favorite things!). I just threw my hair up because we were going to a movie, and honestly, who can really see it in there? :)

Have a great day!

Christmas Baubles

Hey ya'll!

This christmas I really wanted to expand my jewelry collection (C's makes me so envious!) So I did ask for some new baubles this year!

C has an impeccable eye for good necklaces, and she got me this darling necklace from Bridier Baubles. (unfortunately, the owner is on maternity leave so this is the best picture I can find!)
"Perfectly Preppy Necklace"
I am absolutely in love with this, and have worn it SO MANY TIMES. My mother has also tried to steal it...so cute!'

One my other closest friends, eGl got me a pair of Lilly (read: adorable) earrings. I have had my eye on these for a while, they are a perfect staple for me because half of my closet is navy!
"Critter Earrings"
My ears are very sensitive, so most dangly or heavy stud earrings irritate them...however these do not and I absolutely love them!

And the rest of my jewels are from my favorite guy...santa:
J. Crew Pearl & Chain Necklace
Moon & Lola Tortoiseshell Monogram (Mine came from a local boutique)
J. Crew Bow Necklace
Dogeared "Mini Anchor" (from bloomingdales)
Needless to say, my Jewelry trays need an organization day now, and I am so excited to try out some new layering arrangements with these necklaces.

Have a great day!
xoxo, D
